Engenium Group is providing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering services to support the many projects at the Barry Farm development in Southeast Washington, DC. In addition to the projects below, Engenium Group is designing a community-wide geothermal system to serve the entire development, funded by the first-ever pilot project to introduce geothermal systems to the District of Columbia.
- Parcel 1A: New 4-story, 139-unit residential building with 27,069 SF of retail space. This project is striving for Passive House certification and is being designed to meet DC Green Construction Code.
- Parcel 1B: New 5-story, 108-unit senior living building with 12,000 SF of ground-floor lobby and retail space. The building will feature an extensive green roof system and is being designed to achieve Passive House certification.
- Parcel 2: New 4-story, mixed-income 194-unit apartment building with 9,733 SF of retail space. This project is striving for Passive House certification, and is being designed to meet DC Green Construction Code
- Townhouses: New construction of rental townhouses, made up of 60 town-home units across parcels 6, 7, and 8.
- Recreation Center: Upgrade and replace the 2010 HVAC system at the 22,500SF Barry Farm Recreation Center.
- Hillsdale Buildings 3 and 4: Design and construction of 2 6-story “5-Over-1” affordable housing multifamily, mixed-use buildings, known as Buildings 3 and 4. The project is being designed to comply with Energy Code principles, specifically Net Zero.
