Engenium Group provided electrical and plumbing services for the $11.25 million addition and renovation of Stead Park Recreation Center in Washington, DC.This project includes a 15,000 SF expansion connected to the modernized 1,750SF historic carriage house, enhancing recreational and community programming.Electrical scope included the installation of new incoming electrical service, LED lighting, distribution systems, site lighting with photocell/timeclock controls, and fire alarm systems. Additionally, the scope included site lighting throughout Stead Park, including the new children’s playground and other outdoor amenity spaces.The plumbing scope encompasses new wet utilities, domestic hot and cold water systems, plumbing distribution systems, high-efficiency water fixtures, sanitary waste and vent systems, storm systems, irrigation systems, and fire suppression systems.Additionally, low-flow plumbing fixtures and an air-sourced heat pump domestic water heater were installed to enhance efficiency. The scope also included plumbing infrastructure for a new splash pad.
The project was designed to support future solar panel installations, including the construction of a canopy to provide shading and facilitate the future installation of solar panels. Additionally, no gas or fossil fuels were used on-site, aligning with DC’s decarbonization goals. The project will be the District’s first community center to achieve Net Zero.
