Project Description

Engenium Group provided Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing design services for the fitup of the new museum space located at the Reagan Building.  The space blends the tech-focused characteristics of a science center with core elements of a children’s museum, stretching the target audience to age 12, and connecting the entire experience with a ‘dream motif.’ STEAM concepts are weaved throughout the design, incorporating the arts into STEM through dreaming.

The scope of work included:

  • Selective demolition of base-building MEP systems to accommodate future renovation.
  • Reconfiguration of base-building fire protection system.
  • Extension of base-building plumbing systems to serve plumbing fixtures and exhibit features.
  • Modification of existing base-building VAV AHU systems to serve space. Included upgrades to existing base-building AHUs to handle increased load and energy code requirements.
  • New variable refrigerant volume system to serve outdoor cafe area.
  • New power distribution to serve equipment, receptacles and exhibit features.
  • New lighting and controls to serve space.
  • Extension of base-building fire alarm system.
