Project Description

The University of Virginia’s Northern Virginia Campus reimagines 55,000 SF of existing office space into a state-of-the-art learning hub in Fairfax, VA. Spanning two floors within the Inova Center Campus, the renovation transforms the second and third floors into a dynamic academic environment featuring classrooms, hybrid learning areas, student service spaces, faculty offices, and collaboration zones. Serving as a regional anchor for eight of UVA’s twelve programs, the facility fosters innovation and accessibility across disciplines while advancing the university’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

Engenium Group provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering and design services to support the full interior renovation, including coordination with base-building systems and infrastructure reuse. The team designed efficient ventilation, lighting, and plumbing solutions tailored to educational programming needs and long-term energy performance goals. To support the project’s LEED Silver certification target, Engenium also participated in LEED documentation efforts and integrated sustainable system strategies throughout the design.

Through close collaboration with UVA, Inova, and the entire design team, Engenium Group delivered high-performing, adaptable building systems that enhance comfort, flexibility, and operational efficiency, supporting the university’s mission to create inspiring, future-ready learning environments.
