Applicants of the award were tasked to express their professional goals and knowledge in the engineering space, demonstrate their previous HVAC&R and leadership experience, and present any additional accolades, experiences, and societies/organizations they were involved with.
The Herman and Dorothy Behls Certification Award was created and funded by an endowment to honor the late Mr. Herman Behls, a 50-Year Distinguished Service Award member of ASHRAE. Herman Behls’s ties to ASHRAE were extensive as he was a former Chair of ASHRAE, served as a Research Subcommittee Chair, served on a number of Standards and RAC committees, and became a member of ASHRAE’s College of Fellows. Herman was a distinguished member of ASHRAE, authoring numerous standards throughout his tenure, and was known to never stop acquiring new knowledge while always sharing his expertise with anyone interested in learning.
