Brandon Harwick will speak at ASHRAE’s 2023 Decarbonization Conference for the Built Environment in Washington, DC. The four-part session titled “Decarbonization Driver: A New Hybrid Ventilation Method to Achieve High IAQ, Low Energy, Climate Resilient Buildings” will introduce the new approach to hybrid ventilation design in efforts to achieve low carbon building operations. This presentation’s approach applies ASHRAE’s 62.1 standard and builds on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chaired by Marwa Zaatari, PhD, Brandon will be joined by speakers David Ellowitz, PE, HBDP and Tony Fuchs. Brandon’s sub-session, titled “Assess and Implement Hybrid Ventilation System in an Office Building to Achieve a Low Carbon Building,” will take an in-depth look at a case study of Engenium Group’s new headquarters office which was designed using the Indoor Air Quality Procedure to achieve low carbon operations.

About ASHRAE’s Decarbonization Conference for the Built Environment
ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of the American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904. The 2023 Decarbonization Conference will facilitate idea exchange, discussions, and advancements in reducing the carbon footprint impact on the environment as it pertains to the built environment. The 2023 conference will take place from October 25-25, 2023 in Washington, DC and has the primary goal of educating and enhancing the knowledge on decarbonization efforts in the U.S. Learn more here.
